The Top 5 Reasons Why We Love to Cruise!

It’s no secret that we love to cruise. I mean, it’s pretty obvious considering we have a travel agency and a blog dedicated to cruising. It’s our favorite type of vacation. We’ve done destination travel, weekend getaways, trips to Vegas, etc. before but when we both look back on our favorite vacations, it’s always a cruise. It’s hard to really pinpoint why we love cruising so much because there’s a ton of reasons. But here we’re going to try and list out our top five reasons why we love cruising starting with number five.

5. Cruises offer great value! When you break a cruise down to the money you pay per day per person it can be quite surprising. When you think about all the free food options, shows and onboard activities, trips to exotic locations, plus much more, it’s crazy what you get for the price of your cruise. Now, of course this depends on what type of cruise you go on. If you’re taking a cruise on the Ultimate Family Suite on a Royal Caribbean ship, this doesn’t apply. But if we book you in an interior to balcony level room on one of the three main cruise lines (Royal, Carnival or Norwegian) more than likely you’re going to get an excellent value for your cruise. I’ll use some of our clients' bookings as examples. We booked a couple in an interior cabin on a five day cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas for a total of $1,350, which comes out to $135 a day! We also recently booked a family of four in a balcony cabin on a seven day cruise on the Norwegian Escape for $4,550. That’s $162 per person per day. That’s not too bad when you consider everything you get!

4. Seeing multiple countries and only unpacking once. For us, there’s nothing better than unpacking our stuff on day one knowing we’re good to go for the duration of our trip. Cruises offer the opportunity to visit multiple countries in one trip. We’ve gone to Mexico, Honduras, and Belize on one trip and also the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Turks and Caicos. You can also visit Alaska and check out the glaciers, go whale watching and dog sledding. All in one trip! The downside is you’re only in ports for a short amount of time and don’t get to check out too much but the different sights and cultures from the different ports of call can be just what you’re looking for. Also, if you really like a country you visit, you can always take a trip there for a longer period of time.

3. Everything you need is close by. When on a cruise you can get from point a to point b relatively quickly. Even on the largest ships in the world like Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas or the Carnival Mardi Gras, to get from one location to another can be a max of maybe 10 minutes or so. Want to watch a show after dinner, a three minute walk across the deck. Want to hit the casino after some drinks on the pool deck? Just a short trip down an elevator. Compare that to a trip to Vegas it could take an hour or more just to get to a show after dinner.

2. The amazing views. We both love the ocean. Sea days are generally our favorite on a cruise and one of the reasons is looking out into the vastness of the ocean. There’s something calming about the open seas. Sunsets on a ship in the middle of the ocean are also quite stunning. We also love the views of the countries in the different ports. Some of our favorites are Carnival's Private Island, Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and Roatan, Honduras. The landscapes at these places are amazing and the crystal clear blue water is an amazing site to see. We haven’t been to Alaska or the Mediterranean yet but we can only imagine how amazing the views in those locations would be as well!

1. Our top reason we love cruising is there is truly something for everyone on a cruise. The variety of things to do and also the different types of cruises you can go on are endless. On a single ship you’ll find plenty of things to do for kids, adults, and the most seasoned travelers. Also, each cruise line is different. If you’re looking for an entertaining and fun vibe, go for a Carnival cruise. Want a more luxury vacation, check out Celebrity or Princess. If you just want to get away for a few days and relax you can go on a smaller ship for a short amount of time. Or if you want to be endlessly entertained with world class shows, food, and onboard activities, you can do that too! Cruising is truly what you make it. That’s what makes it so great!

So there you have it. Our top five reasons why we love to cruise. It’s hard to narrow it down to just five but this list sums it up for us. I do want to add an honorable mention. Another thing we love is all the drinks and food choices! We’ve had some of our best cocktails on a cruise (Becca loves her a good margarita) and tried some exquisite foods for the first time like alligator, escargot, and frog legs to name a few. The food and drink options are a huge bonus. We always have a great time on these vacations and can’t wait to take our next one!
