Our last cruise was one for the books. To say we enjoyed ourselves would be an understatement. We chose to go on a 7 day Carnival cruise out of Miami, FL. With the cost of flights right now we decided it would be best to drive. Yes, we are insane and decided to drive 13 hours instead of spending a little extra on a direct flight.
To help our long drive, we broke it up by stopping in Orlando and visiting friends on Friday. We were able to go to Disney with friends and experience the craziness of Epcot during February break. Luckily it was beautiful outside and we had little expectations of attractions. While in Disney, we were even lucky enough to check off visiting Chicken Guy. A restaurant we have loved since watching the Guys show last year. It was as delicious as we hoped! We ended up finding a steal on a resort near Disney, Gaylord Palms and enjoyed a relaxing night.
Saturday morning we woke up early to explore the resort and check out the attractions before finishing the drive to Miami (about another 4 hours) to pick up our cruise companion who made the decision to fly from Raleigh. Toll roads were the fastest way, but unfortunately we had a few hiccups including toll booths not accepting our coins (or any coins for that matter). Once we figured out our next steps, it was a quick and easy drive to Miami!
We ended up staying in a Residents Inn by the Miami airport which wasn’t in the nicest part of town but was in its own bubble of hotels and security gates. Once the three of us arrived at the hotel we decided to head to downtown Miami to have a few drinks. We found a local bar that had Whiskey Lemonades that Cory loved and sitting outside was the key to my heart especially in February.
After a full stomach of Pizza and a few more beverages, we headed back to the hotel and tried to get some sleep before getting on the ship the next morning. In reality, we both knew Cory would probably get no sleep due to excitement for the next day.
Although we do not plan vacations other than cruises, we do help book hotels and can help you check out flights. We want you to see what is possible for your next cruise vacation based on our travels. We love hearing about your travels and the fun hotels/resorts you have checked out on your way to your next destination!
